I’ll Quit Smoking In The Next Two Months, Says Shahrukh Khan
Finally, Health Minister Anbumani Ramadoss breathe a sigh of ‘relief’ as King Khan has decided to give up smoking in a few months as his kids hate the deadly habit.
In an interview to the Malayalam daily, Malayalam Manorma, Shahrukh said, “I am planning to quit smoking for the sake of my children, who hate to see me smoke.”
“It is a blessing in disguise and I will quit smoking in the next two months,” he added.
Shahrukh’s smoking habit had become a kind of conflict between him and the Health Minister.
This was the Anbumani’s worry when he appealed movie stars to quit smoking onscreen as well as publicly. But, his request went useless and it just invited the anger of some actors from the film industry.
What the minister could not do, King Khan’s children have done exactly that.
Ramadoss had frequently stated that SRK’s smoking habit widely set up a bad example for young generation. But the actor did not stop.
“I am sure Mr. Ramadoss will be very happy to hear this news,” SRk told the Malayalam newspaper.
The interview was conducted on the sets of his upcoming movie ‘Billu Barber’, directed by Priayadarsan at Pollachi in Tamil Nadu.
“I started smoking when I was 22. For the last 20 years, I have been a smoker,”" SRK said.
He added, “The idea of quitting propped up during a 17-hour flight.”
The multi-talented actor could not smoke on the flight, and did not even feel the urge to smoke.
“So if I can do without smoking in flight, I am sure I can do without it on land too,” he said.
But this is not the first time SRK promised to ‘quit smoking.’
