Gut bacteria can tell a lot about Person’s Health Problems
A large study carried out by Dutch researchers has the answer of many of you health problems, including why you are not able to lose weight. The researchers said the gut flora has a major impact on a person's cholesterol and body mass index (BMI). The same microbiome could tell about the risk of heart disease.
Researchers from the cholesterol and body mass index (BM) conducted an experiment in which they have analyzed the gut microbes of more than 850 people with the help of a sophisticated sequencing model and technology.
Through this way, they were able to find out at least 34 types of bacteria that affect obesity and many among them were the ones that were discovered through sequencing.
"As less than 30 percent of bacteria in the human gut have been cultured, we know very little about who they are and what they do […] With state-of-art deep sequencing technology, we are now able to identify them", said Dr. Jingyuan Fu from the University Medical Center Groningen.
The bacteria can impact health at least 6% in BMI and 4% in high-density lipoprotein (HDL). It also affects 4% of the triglycerides, a type of fat linked to risk of heart disease.
The researchers said increasing the diversity of the gut flora can effectively control weight-related factors like BMI and cholesterol levels. It can happen by eating foods that are rich in fiber and nutrients and the diet that is low in meat.
