Gunbattle on between terrorists-Army in Poonch
On Monday the gunbattle between security forces and terrorists entered its fifth day in Poonch.
For the last 15 hours there’s been continuous firing between security forces and a group of terrorist.
The operation to find nearly six to eight terrorists hiding in the forests near the Line of Control commenced on Sunday. Furthermore, in order to prevent the terrorists from escaping, the area has been cordoned by the security.
From the time, the encounter started on Thursday night the security forces have killed four terrorists while the bodies have not been recovered so far.
Following a silence on Friday night, the firing had started again early Saturday. The Army has lost two jawans. A special police officer has been killed in the gunbattle.
The encounter took place in Bhatidhar forest, where for past several years, Jaish-e-Mohamad and Lashkar-e-Toiba militants had been allegedly operating.
Defence sources informed that in the BhatiDhar forests of Mendhar the terrorists are hiding themselves in the cave-type hideouts.
A defence source was quoted as saying by news agency PTI, “The Army and the police have put up a three-tier cordon and are zeroing in on the cave-type hideouts in the Bhatidhar forests.”
There is a deep fog in the area that stands as a hurdle in the way of the security forces.
As per the intercepts some of the top most commanders of the Jaish-e-Mohammad, Al-Badr and the Lashkar-e-Taiba were holed up there.
