India & Pak Should Play A Test Match In Mumbai: AkramAccording to former Pakistan cricket skipper Wasim Akram, both India and Pakistan should play a test match in terrorist-hit Mumbai.

Speaking with the media persons, Akram said, “Cricket is not on anyone's mind at the moment, but after three to four days both the countries must take a positive step. I suggest Pakistan and India play a Test in Mumbai so to give a clear message that we will not give in.”

Pak cricket tour cancelled

Pak cricket tour cancelledIndia's cricket tour to Pakistan has been called off in the wake of the recent Mumbai terror strikes.

The team was scheduled to leave for Pakistan on January 6 to play three Tests, five ODIs and one Twenty20 match.

This would be the third international cricketing engagement that has been cancelled in the recent past. First, the Aussies cancelled its tour in March-April and subsequently a Championship Trophy tournament was cancelled.

International cricket teams, including Australia, England and South Africa had refused to play in Pakistan citing security reasons.

Leander nominated as VP Bengal Tennis

Indian tennis star Leander PaesIndian tennis star Leander Paes has been nominated as vice-president of the Bengal Tennis Association (BTA).

The decision was taken at the 67th Annual General Meeting of the BTA held at the BTA complex in Kolkata.

"Leander has shown keen interest for the development of tennis in the state. So, we have included him in the BTA top management keeping in mind the interest of the game," said BTA secretary Hironmoy Chatterjee.

Chatterjee was re-elected to the post this time also.

Sushil Mehrotra was elected the president.

National games postponed

National games postponedThe 34th National Games to be held in Jharkhand have been further postponed and will now be held on Feb 15-28.

The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) earlier postponed the Games at the request of National Games Organising Committee (NGOC) as Jharkhand failed to develop the infrastructure in time for the Dec 1-13 event.

"The National Games date has been extended as the necessary infrastructure was not ready. The IOA has accepted the request to extend the dates and the games will take place in February," Jharkhand Sports Minister Bandhu Tirkey said.

Teams from Australia, South Africa, England and Pakistan, along with the hosts India, were to take part in the inaugural edition of the showbiz event from

December 3-10. Bangalore, Chennai and Mumbai were the three venues. Lalit Modi, chairman of the Champions League board stated, "We couldn't get a third venue to replace Mumbai at such short notice." The teams were to stay at the Taj Mahal Palace hotel, one of the chief targets of Wednesday's attack.
