Wellington, Apr 9 : New Zealand cricket coach Andy Moles has changed his mind and now wants to be a national selector.

Speaking as the New Zealand team disbanded at the end of the test series against India, Moles said his decision was not a reflection of the panel's work, but there was certainly an inference that he wants to be in a position to offer greater input into the team.

London, Apr 9 : AC Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti has told Chelsea that he is ready to take over from stopgap boss Guus Hiddink.

Ancelotti has promised Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich that he is willing to join the club this summer, The Sun reported.

Ancelotti was the Blues owner's first choice to replace Phil Scolari, but was unwilling to leave Milan mid-season.

However, sources at the Italian club have indicated that an agreement has been reached with Chelsea, which will see Ancelotti named as the new coach.

London, Apr 9 : Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney is a major injury doubt for coach Sir Alex Ferguson as he bids to stop his club's season going down the pan.

Rooney was hit hard on the ribs by the ball at the end of the first half of the Red Devils' 2-2 Champions League quarterfinal first leg at home to Porto on Tuesday night.

He bravely played on, but was clearly in some discomfort as he left the ground after the game, The Sun reported.

Sydney, Apr 9: Cricket Australia’s chief selector Andrew Hilditch has asked troubled all rounder Andrew Symonds to perform or perish during the limited-overs series against Pakistan to be played in United Arab Emirates from April 22.

Having convinced Cricket Australia he has overcome the behavioural issues, Symonds has been granted one more chance to restore the selectors’ confidence after Hilditch admitted the Queenslander had been chosen largely based on past heroics.

London, Apr 9: To prevent players suffering the sort of nervous breakdown experienced by English opener Marcus Trescothick, Wisden has asked the England and Wales Cricket Board to reduce the amount of cricket being played by the national team.

“The word suffer is used too often in cricket but in his autobiography Trescothick was entitled to use it in describing much of what he endured as an England player,” writes Scyld Berry in his editor’s notes for the new edition of the Wisden Almanack.
