Consumer group Choice conducted a study to evaluate quality of service provided by cosmetic surgeons. Under the recent study, the women looking for cosmetic surgery treatment made 38 visits to 30 cosmetic surgery clinics in Sydney and Brisbane. These women enquired about breast augmentation, fat-removing liposuction or wrinkle-reducing Botox treatment. The study revealed some shocking facts.
Washington, Mar 24: Older adults can prevent fractures by taking oral vitamin D supplements at a dose of at least 400 international units per day, says a new study.
"The anti-fracture benefits of vitamin D have been questioned by several recent trials, leading to uncertainty among patients and physicians regarding recommendations for vitamin D supplementation," the authors write as background information in the article.
In a shocking development, a 12 year old girl student died and 27 others were hospitalized after being administered a shot of Rubella vaccine in Sri Lanka's Matara district.
The girl, Piyasala Hansani, died at his school St. Thomas' Girls School, about 160 km south of the capital Colombo.
It can be recalled that nearly 300 students of the school were given vaccine after which some students had fallen ill and were admitted to the hospital.

B. C. new legislation prohibits smoking in the presence of children under 16. The new law will come into effect on World Health Day, April 7. The new law will allow police to stop any vehicle on suspicion of smoking in the presence of children and charge $109 fine if found guilty. Anyone refusing to pay fine will not be issued both a driver's licence and insurance. Parents are applauding this effort of government to protect children from danger of second hand smoke.
Recent study revealed that 695,000 living Canadians were diagnosed with an invasive cancer over a 10-year period ending at the beginning of January 2005. The study concluded that although cancer rates are increasing but it is also a fact that survival rates are improving.
Study by Statistics Canada reveled that the most prevalent cancer in women was breast cancer and prostate cancer in men followed by colorectal cancer. 40% cancer cases are due to breast cancer and 38.2% men were diagnosed prostate cancer.
