GlaxoSmithKline P. L. C.'s drug Avandia is facing flak for causing more than one dozen cases of liver failure and death in patients taking the drug according to a consumer advocacy group Public Citizen.

Washington, Nov 3 : A new study has found that the human papillomavirus (HPV) aids in the progression of cervical and head and neck cancer cells by activating a cell signalling pathway that helps the cancers survive, grow and spread.
The research led by University of California, Los Angeles has shown that HPV allows infected cervical and head and neck cancer cells to maintain internal molecular conditions that make the cancers resistant to therapy.
