New Delhi, Sept.25 : NDTV today announced the launch of 'NDTV MetroNation,' India's first English city channel.

NDTV Metro Nation gives Delhi and the NCR a high-end 24-hour channel that covers breaking news, and user-friendly information on where to shop, what to eat, and how to work out.

India assures support for development of Nepal railway

Kathmandu, Sept 25 : India will support the development of the railway service in Nepal, said Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav.

Nepal Railway General Manager Yugeshwor Kapar on Monday met Lalu, who was in Jayanagar to inaugurate Jayanagar-Kolkata broad-gauge railway service.

Kapar sought support for construction of the proposed Jayanagar (India) to Bardibas (Nepal) railway.

New Delhi had assured the extension of Janakpur (Nepal)-Jayanagar(India) railway up to Bardibas in Nepal’s Mahottari District.

‘Open’ school education for Assamese kids

Dalbama (Assam), Sept. 25 : Sitting amidst trees and chirping of birds, children in Assam are learning lessons in an open environment. This is a new initiative by the State Government to bring school dropouts back to the classroom.

These kids, belonging to impoverished families in Dalbama village of Kamrup District, are taught their lessons mixed with a healthy dose of fun to keep their interest levels high.

Indo-UK joint military exercise in Ladakh is illegitimate: Pak FO

Islamabad, Sep 25: The Pakistan Foreign Office has said that the ongoing joint military exercise between India and the UK in Ladakh is illegitimate.

Pakistan has lodged a formal protest with the Government of both the countries, as Ladakh is a part of the disputed region of Jammu and Kashmir, Foreign Office (FO) spokeswoman Tasnim Aslam told reporters.

“This is not a legitimate activity because Jammu and Kashmir is an internationally recognised disputed territory and more than anybody else the British should be aware of it,” Aslam said.

Cribs made by Pennsylvania-based Simplicity Inc. have been recalled in North America by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission after the reports that the crib-beds were cause of death of two infants. Houston based Arceneaux family lost their 7-month old daughter Royale this February.
