India assures support for development of Nepal railway
Kathmandu, Sept 25 : India will support the development of the railway service in Nepal, said Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav.
Nepal Railway General Manager Yugeshwor Kapar on Monday met Lalu, who was in Jayanagar to inaugurate Jayanagar-Kolkata broad-gauge railway service.
Kapar sought support for construction of the proposed Jayanagar (India) to Bardibas (Nepal) railway.
New Delhi had assured the extension of Janakpur (Nepal)-Jayanagar(India) railway up to Bardibas in Nepal’s Mahottari District.
Rites, a Government of India enterprise under the Ministry of Railways has completed the survey for the construction of the proposed railway.
The Nepalese team also met Indian Minister of State for Communications Shakeel Ahmed and other officials in this regard, reported Kantipuronline. (With inputs from ANI)
