London, Jan 13: A student was shocked to find out that men would pay 2.5 million pounds for something that used to be highly prized at one time, a girl's virginity.

Natalie Dylan, 22, a student, decided to auction off her virginity in order to pay for her masters degree in Family and Marriage therapy, and she reveals that her offer of a one-night stand has seen 10,000 men making a bid to bed her.

When the bidding started in September, Dylan from San Diego, California, USA, had received offers of up to 162,000 pounds, but the interest in her has since picked up.

Islamabad, Jan. 13: Cable operators in Pakistan may soon have to black out airing Indian channels as the Senate Standing Committee on Information and Broadcasting has recommended a ban on all Indian channels being telecast by the cable operators across the country, The Daily Times reported.

PML-Q leader Tariq Azeem has asked the government to immediately ban the Indian TV channels from being aired in Pakistan, amidst rising tension between both the countries.

Azeem said that the Indian government has banned the books of Pakistani authors from being sold in India, so Pakistan should also give a reply to the Indian stance by slapping a ban on the T. V. channels.

Communally sensitive Kandhamal district of Orissa is all set to carry another vague record. The district, dominated by the tribals has registered country’s highest infant mortality rate (IMR).   

In its latest publication of “Infant and Child Mortality in India : District Level Estimates'', a New Delhi-based Population Foundation of India (PFI) estimates that IMR in Kandhamal was 121 per 1000 live births, while the national infant mortality rate per 1000 live births stands at 54.

Nairobi - Kenneth Kamua Njuguna stands in the Kenyan camp for the internally displaced he has called home for the last year, and holds up his left arm to reveal a network of scar tissue.

A gang of Maasai warriors hacked Njuguna with machetes, clubs and spears at the height of the violence that swept Kenya after disputed elections on December 27, 2007, then left him for dead in a bush.

Njuguna, 34, was lucky. A group of women fetching water found him and took him to hospital.
