Weight bias prevents women from becoming CEOsWashington, April 8: Weight bias may contribute to the glass ceiling on the advancement of women to the top levels of management, according to a study.

Mark Roehling, an associate professor of Human Resource Management at Michigan State University (MSU), has found that overweight and obese women in the U. S. are significantly underrepresented among the top CEOs.

On the other hand, while obese men were also underrepresented, he says, overweight men were actually overrepresented among top CEOs.

Hong Kong boar populationHong Kong - A 77-year-old Hong Kong man was savaged by a wild boar that pinned him to the ground and bit his groin, police said Wednesday.

The 70-kilogram animal went on a rampage, knocking the man down and sinking its teeth into him, after it strayed into a village in Hong Kong's New Territories.

Witnesses said the boar attacked Tuesday after it jumped a fence and charged at the man who was playing cards with friends outside.

The animal then ran off. The man was taken to hospital bleeding and was in stable condition Wednesday.

Search on for missing chopper carrying Philippine president's staff Manila  - The Philippines on Wednesday mounted search and rescue operations for a missing air force helicopter carrying senior staff of President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo amid reports that the chopper could have crashed and exploded.

The Bell 412 helicopter, carrying five passengers and two pilots, was on its way to Banaue town in Ifugao province, 270 kilometres north of Manila, from the nearby mountain resort city of Baguio when it went missing Tuesday.

Mr. Awasthi died on May 13, 2008 due to ill-treatment by the authorities of the Central Jail, Naini.

A bench comprising Justice Ashok Bhushan and Justice Vineet Saran passed the order on a writ petition the lawyer's father RN Awasthi, who had prayed for compensation and service to the dependants of his son.

Twelve factory workers killed in blast in Philippines Manila  - Twelve factory workers were killed and five injured when a boiler at a Styrofoam packaging plant exploded in the Philippines, police said Wednesday.

The explosion occurred Tuesday evening as night shift employees worked at the factory in Santa Maria town in Bulacan province, just north of Manila.

The town's police chief, Superintendent Marcos Rivero, said five workers died on the spot while others were trapped under concrete and steel debris as the blast destroyed the factory.
