Anjar girl may not face police action

However, cops probe if her feigning to be dead will be an offence

The 19-year-old girl of Modvadar village of Anjar taluka of Kutch, who eloped with her lover and secretly married him in the Panchmahals, may not face any legal problem as she is a major.

"Sajanu Hamir Dangar is no longer a minor and appears to have conducted no offence as far as her marriage is concerned,'' said PL Chaudhary, DySP of Anjar.

However, as for her apparent act of feigning to be dead, the police are investigating the matter and will decide if this constitutes any offence.

Hospitals must follow standard treatment

A patient who goes to a hospital must be treated as per the standard lines of medical treatment and any deviation will be termed as medical negligence. This was laid down by the National Consumer Dispute Redressal Commission in Rohini Hospital and another vs P Shashikala and others.

Narender Reddy, Shashikala's husband, developed pain in the abdomen and went to Rohini Hospital for treatment. He was advised surgery of the gall bladder. On the second day after surgery, the patient started complaining of severe pain in the abdomen but the doctors said that he would be all right soon.

CBI questions Purohit

Though the special MCOCA court had granted the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) permission to interrogate the 2006 Malegaon blast accused for three days last Tuesday, the outcome of the investigation is yet to be known. The court had also allowed interrogation of the 2008 Malegaon blasts accused, Lt Col Prasad Purohit.

Toxic godowns to be probed by crime branch

The authorities of the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) have decided to hand over to the crime branch for further investigation all the cases involving the godowns from where biomedical waste had been recovered recently.

AMC’s medical officer, Dr SP Kulkarni, told DNA that the AMC would continue its search and raids on godowns which were suspected of storing biomedical waste. “Besides the godowns where biomedical waste has already been found, the AMC would also hand over to the crime branch for further investigation all the godowns that it finds storing biomedical waste in the future,” Kulkarni said.

Sabarmati jail clash leaves one dead

One prisoner was killed and two others seriously injured when three prisoners clashed with each other at Sabarmati central jail on Sunday. The deceased has been identified as Suresh Kakadia, a resident of Bhavnagar. The two prisoners who were injured have been identified as Shankar Thakore and Davendra Rajput. Both have been admitted to Civil Hospital for treatment.

The Sabarmati police said that clashes among prisoners broke out in the jail at around 1 pm after Mahendra Vala and Aadam had an altercation with Suresh Kakadia over something. Vala and Kakadia were at loggerheads over a financial matter.

Police arrest two suspects in murder of Roma couple

Budapest - Hungarian police arrested two men in connection with the murder last year of a Roma couple in the the southern city of Pec, the locla media reported Saturday.
