Former Captain Chandu Borde May Take Up Colonel’s Chair

Mumbai: As Dilip Vengsarkar ventilated his resentment against the BCCI Chandu_Borde _Former_Cricket_Captain_Indiaairing his decision to quit the post of the chief selector, another former India cricket team captain Chandu Borde has expressed his desire to take over the post.

Vengsarkar, popularly known as ‘Colonel,’ skirmished with BCCI on the body’s guidelines on the chief selector. The tussle turned out to be an embarrassing situation in Indian cricket.

BCCI has been playing tough role of taskmaster with aplomb. No other selector in Indian cricket history has taken such an extreme step.

The Indian cricket board has made contingency plan to get former India captain Chandu Borde as chairman to preside over the selection committee meeting to pick the India team for Australia later this month.

The board is believed to have told Borde to be ready to take over the job.

It was Borde who bailed out the board by agreeing to be the cricket manager on India's tour of England in the summer, after Ravi Shastri expressed his inability to continue as manager after the Bangaldesh tour.
