Five AMU Centres To Come Up In The Country
The Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) is all set to set up five special academic centres across the country to offer traditional and job oriented courses.
In this regard, AMU has already got the final nod from the varsity’s Academic Council on Monday.
The new centres will be established in Murshidabad (West Bengal); Katihar (Bihar); Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh); Pune (Maharashtra) and Mallappuram (Kerala).
The university (AMU) is making discussions with the related states in order to open up special centres of the varsity.
Prof. P. K. Abdul Azis, Vice-Chancellor of the varsity, has informed the Council that AMU had met the concerned state governments for receiving 250 to 300 acres of land for free to establish the new centres.
Prof. Aziz also told that a plan of Rs 2,000 crore to build up these special centres during the 11th Plan is still pending with the Human Resource Development Ministry (MHRD)
The council has also authorized Prof. Aziz to form a committee of the Academic Council to analyze the academic facets of establishing the centres.
Moreover, the council also resolved in principle to follow grading system and semester system for all its courses within the structure of the legal agencies regulating medical, engineering and other programmes in the university.
