Fin Whale died after being hit by ship

On Wednesday, a dead fin whale was found floating in Alameda. On Friday, a necropsy was carried out and it has been found that the whale was struck by ship, which caused its death. The whale was alive when it was hit by ship and died of blunt force trauma.

In the examination, which was carried out at Angel Island State Park in San Francisco Bay, was carried out by 14 scientists. While examining the carcass, the scientists have found broken and dislocated ribs and hemorrhaging.

Scientists said that the 52-foot fin whale was having injuries on its body. With the help of National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Fisheries, the U. S. Coast Guard and the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers, the whale was taken to the Angel Island State Park.

The National Marine Fisheries Service was notified by the Coast Guard of the whale floating in the estuary at around 4.30 am on Wednesday.

"With an increase in worldwide shipping, deaths from ship strikes will become more and more of a problem. Locally we must identify a solution that both works for shipping companies and keeps whales safe", said Dr. Frances Gulland, a senior scientist at the Marine Mammal Center. The whale found on Wednesday is the first one discovered in the Bay this year.
