EU opts for Single Electronic Communications Market
This year’s European Commission report pens down on bringing the Single European Electronic Communications Market for telecoms providers.
According to this report, single telecom market shall aid in providing a better and more competitive broadband service across the European Union. This move is in co-ordinance with the rising inconsistencies and disparities in price and service that hinder the broadband growth rate.
Neelie Kroes, Digital Agenda Commissioner said, “The limited progress towards a true single market is disappointing. Member states need to do more to ensure telecoms rules are properly implemented and the necessary investments in innovative services made for benefit of European consumers.”
The figures indicate a rise in broadband usage across Europe, which is poised between a common 2 and 10Mbps. This growth rate when compared to Asian markets stand way behind, and this becomes as an objective to be worked upon, claims the EU.
