Ecological code for Delhi

Ecological code for DelhiNo stone is being left unturned for the much awaited Commonwealth games in New-Delhi. Chief Minister Shiela Dixit and the chairman of organizing committee Suresh Kalmadi and the much controversial Shashi Tharoor, the state minister for external affairs jointly released the Delhi 2010 ecological code on Wednesday pointing at a series of measures that needed to be taken to offset the carbon footprint left by the mammoth event.

The code includes a lot of measures like managing the waste, efficient use of energy, and the planting of maximum sapling. This was a conscious effort on part of the Delhi government and organizing committee to preserve the environment and ensure that there are no after effects of this huge event.

The code also provides targets to be achieved to make sure that the carbon in the air is neutral. 1,50,000 tonnes of green-house gases are to be produced during the event lasting from the 3rd to 14th October. Plans are also being finalized to plant saplings across the city to make it look beautiful and preserve the environment, said Suresh Kalmadi.
