Dhoni Lambasts Asia Cup Schedule; BCCI Hits BackDisqualifying Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s statement against tight scheduling of the Asia Cup, BCCI vice-president, Rajiv Shukla said that the team was well informed about the schedule of Asia Cup and the players had the choice of backing out if they thought they needed rest.

Dhoni said that the team is struggling as they are being burdened with too much cricket. "We hardly get any time to recover”.  The captain said that dipping energy levels were the major factor for the below par performance.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni lambasted the grueling schedule of the Asia Cup on Saturday.

He said that the players spent 36 hours playing cricket out of the 84 hours they have been in Karachi. “I am not happy with the schedule”, said Dhoni. He further said that "it was tough out there for us. But I am happy we have kept going. Suresh Raina, Gautam Gambhir and Virender Sehwag have batted really well in the tournament and I hope they keep on doing the same.”

Hitting back at Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s comments on tight schedule and the player injuries as a result, BCCI vice-president Rajiv Shukla on Sunday said that the players should inform the board if they need rest and the board will be happy to send replacements.

Shukla Said that Sachin was not taken as he had informed in advance. He also questioned  the players’ commitment that the same players did not have any problem with IPL’s tight schedule.

He said that the players had the choice of backing out if they thought they needed rest. “If a player wants rest, he can inform the board and we’ll be happy to send replacements”, said Shukla.
