According to reports, JetBlue began round-trip service from JFK Airport to Cuba. It is for the first time that a major airline has come up with an offer to connect people from the city to the Caribbean island after over 50 years. At that time, travel to the Caribbean island was restricted.

In the inaugural trip, a huge Cuban flag was flown at JetBlue's terminal Gate No. 21. Ground staff waved and cheered when passengers boarded the plane. There were also passengers who didn't visit the place in over a decade.

Lazaro Iglesias, 44, of Kearny, NJ was going back to Cuba for the first time since he came to the US in 2002. He said that he feels really excited to visit the place. He was carrying a luggage trolley with boxes containing clothing and electronics for his family in Havana.

On Tuesday, JetBlue Airways Corp announced plans to boost service at Logan International Airport in order to serve both business and leisure travelers who have made the airline the city's top carrier.

JetBlue will introduce its highly acclaimed take on premium travel 'Mint' class to Boston customers traveling to San Francisco and Los Angeles as a part of the expansion.

JetBlue will also add Nashville as its 60th non-stop destination from Boston and will increase service frequency on more than a dozen existing routes to US and Caribbean destinations.

The largest airline in Boston said that it has won corporate customers in part as its Mint seats, are priced below competitors' business-class fares.

With the deal, JetBlue gains slots in the nation's capital, while American will gain opportunities in New York.

American adding 12 pairs of landing and takeoff slots at New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport are the details of the swap include. In return, American is ceding eight pairs of slots at Ronald Reagan National Airport and one at White Plains, N. Y., to JetBlue.

Lufthansa for ‘code-share’ deal with JetBlue

JetBlue, Lufthansa Germany's flag carrier and the second-largest airline in Europe, Deutsche Lufthansa AG, has expedited its efforts to create a so-called 'code-share' agreement with JetBlue Airways Corporation and has applied for regulatory approval with the US Department of Transportation, in a bid to strengthen its position at John F. Kennedy International Airport.

A release from JetBlue states, "We're looking to capitalize on our position at JFK, where we're the largest domestic airline."
