Bharti Airtel acquires Alcatel-Lucent's stake in NSI

Largest telecom service provider in India, Bharti Airtel has acquired the entire stake of Alcatel-Lucent in the joint venture between the two companies.
The joint venture firm, Network Service India manages the fixed-line and broadband networks of Airtel. Bharti said in a statement that it has adopted a new business model for managing its fixed line and DSL broadband networks on the lines of Indus Towers.

French telecoms equipment maker, Alcatel-Lucent has announced that it will cut around 5,000 jobs around the world as part of its plans to generate 1.25 billion euros in revenues by the end of next year.
The company has reported a net loss of 254 million euros during the second quarter of the year. The total turnover of the company fell 7.1 per cent to 3.5 billion euros in the quarter compared to the same quarter in the previous year.
Alcatel-Lucent launches VDSL Vectoring technology for faster broadband

French networking giant Alcatel-Lucent has announced the launch of new equipment based on its VDSL Vectoring technology, which will significantly improve broadband speeds over copper networks.
The new equipment is claimed to be capable of increasing broadband speeds over copper networks to 100Mbps and higher.

The mutual contract that saw Alcatel-Lucent enters in a five-year agreement with BT for an evolution of BT's superfast 21st Century Network (21CN).
This deal which works in close union with both the parties seeks to utilise Alcatel-Lucent's High Leverage NetworkTM (HLN) architecture and transformational services. This in turn boosts BT's infrastructure helping it set up the new video-rich services to its wholesale and retail subscribers.
Alcatel-Lucent swings to profit; revenue off 20% PR

French telecommunication company Alcatel-Lucent reported a profit of $63.2 million or € 46 million during the fourth quarter compared to a loss of € 3.91 million for the last year comparable period, helped by lower expenses along with the strong cost control measures and one-time items, despite 19.9% fall in the revenue on the Year-on- Year basis.
Company reported an increase in the free cash flow during the quarter to €173 million from € 157 million which demonstrate its ability to generate cash through a more disciplined management of its working capital.
AT&T move towards Next-Gen Networking with Ericsson & Alcatel

The wireless service provider facing network issues has picked Ericsson and Alcatel-lucent to build its new LTE (Long Term Evolution) high-speed wireless network. AT&T has to improve its services to defend its depleting market share in high competitive wireless market. As wireless infrastructure solutions provider these two companies are building a similar network for Verizon.
