Jeera February contract dropped Rs 133 and settled at Rs 14573 a kg due to selling pressure. Delay in arrivals from the fresh crop due to late sowing limited the fall in prices. Daily arrivals at the Unjha market is around 3,000 bags (of 55 kg each) against the total trade of 4,000-5,000 bags. As on Jan. 10, in Gujarat, the biggest producer, rea under jeera stood at 244,600 hectares, marginally higher than 242,700 hectares sowed a year ago. The country's jeera exports in April-December period fell 37 per cent on year-on-year basis to 24,250 tonnes. In Unjha, a key spot market in Gujarat, jeera dropped -18.25 rupees to end at 14688.9 rupees per 100 kg. The contract made intraday low of Rs 14525 a kg and high of Rs 14874 a kg. Support for jeera is at 14441 below that could see a test of 14308. Resistance is now seen at 14790 above that could see a resistance of 15006.
