Chikungunya Outbreaks In Sullia & Puttur
Mangalore: The health department officials confirmed the large-scale outbreak of Chikungunya in dozens of villages in the twin taluks of Sullia and Puttur when they found nearly 1,687 cases identified with symptoms of Chikungunya, out of which 35 cases were in Aranthod, 90 in Kollamogaru, 43 in Bellare, 53 in Subramanya and 73 in Kadaba.
The worst affected villages are, Kamila, Panja, Katta, Guthigaru, Kayambadi of Sullia taluk and Balya, Kadaba, Kottrupadi, Kodimbala, Aiathoor villages of Puttur taluk.
According to the reports, Health officials have visited 5,818 houses in two taluks and have collected blood samples of those suffering from fever. Total of 530 blood samples indicate clear symptoms of chikungunya.
Meanwhile, authorities have released Rs 4.5 lakh to control the spread of the chikungunya in the district, and three mobile teams with four doctors have been sent to the affected region on Tuesday April 15.
