Chavez: Venezuela has deployed troops amid spatVenezuelan President Hugo Chavez announced on Friday that they had arrayed troops and air units in defense in due to the rising conflicts with its neighbor Columbia.

While declaring the same, he also expressed great remorse for having to spend so much time in revising warfare plans against its neighbor.

He also hopes that peace could be restored by having talks with Columbian President Juan Manuel Santos after he assumes office on August 7. He is of the belief that no one can blackmail the country into warfare and the defense troops were positioned only to protect the sovereignty in case of an aggression and had no intention of harming anyone. Chavez also brought to light that he had sent Venezuelan forces to check the places where Colombia purported there were rebel bases, and did not find anything but an abandoned house.

He also announced that he is creating a new military district in the border areas.
