BYD launches Denza brand in Europe with striking D9 minivan debut

BYD, a prominent Chinese electric car manufacturer, has made a significant foray into the European automotive landscape, introducing the eye-catching D9 minivan as part of its Denza brand's grand debut. The D9 minivan, an elegant people mover, is not just a vehicle; it's a fusion of innovation and luxury. All set to make its mark on the Old Continent, the D9 has been created by a joint venture (JV) set up by BYD and Mercedes in 2010. The JV, called Denza, has emerged as a symbol of progressive automotive collaboration.

At the very first glance, the D9 attracts attention with its boxy silhouette and its large electrically operated sliding doors. The Geneva debut marks the European introduction of Denza, showcasing its commitment to delivering high-end style and interior comfort, poised to compete against other luxurious minivans like the Lexus LM. Available as a plug-in hybrid or a fully electric vehicle, the D9 minivan brings versatility to the forefront, catering to a range of environmentally conscious European consumers.

While the manufacturer hasn’t revealed technical specifications of the D9, its dimensions and features hint at an excellent driving experience. It features a nearly flat roofline, spacious maximizes, and its large panoramic sunroof that enhances the cabin's airy ambiance. With its two distinctive grille and interior, the manufacturer has added a touch of flair to its overall design.

Inside the EV, the brand offers a luxurious sanctuary featuring leather-clad interiors, a 2+2+3 seating configuration, and adjustable seats equipped with ventilation and massaging functions. The attention to detail extends to the rear seats as there are additional displays, a rear-seat entertainment system, and a small fridge that can of hold six bottles. As per Denza’s claims, every passenger in the vehicle can enjoy a first-class experience with USB ports, LED ambient lighting, and speakers from the Dynaudio sound system.

While specifications for the European market remain undisclosed, insights from the Chinese version reveal a plug-in hybrid option with a turbocharged 1.5-liter gasoline engine as well as a full electric variant.

In addition to the D9, Denza recently unveiled a purely electric five-seater SUV, dubbed the N9. With features like a height-adjustable air suspension, panoramic sunroof, and an impressive driving range of 354 miles, the N7 showcases the brand's efficiency in offering diverse electric lineup. It further establishes the Denza brand as a force to be reckoned in the dynamic European EV market.
