Amsterdam - Schiphol Airport should grow to accommodate a maximum of 510,000 flights per year by 2020 from 433,000 today, according to an advisory committee report released Wednesday.

Additionally, the report recommends the transfer of charter flights to Eindhoven in the south and Lelystad in the central-north.

"The recommendations provide Schiphol with new opportunities to grow without compromising on sustainability," Ingrid Pouw, Schiphol Airport spokeswoman told Deutsche-Presse Agentur dpa Wednesday.

Jet Airways Chairman, Naresh Goyal is planning to sell 10 per cent shares in the Jet Airways. Mr. Goyal is in talk with some international funds for share sell out. He said that he will always remain the mentor of the company and will sell his own stake to make the company stronger, economically. He was here in Mumbai to address the annual general meeting (AGM) of the company.

Mr. Goyal, currently holds about 80 percent shares in Jet Airways. The company is likely to issue shares to investors to arrange more funds for company. It is waiting for the improvement in the global financial conditions for rights issue.

Nicosia, Oct 1: The ETA-Ascon Star Group, which is based in the United Arab Emirates, has announced plans to redevelop hundreds of small airstrips in India to serve the corporate jet market in the Gulf and take advantage of the growing traffic created by businessmen who travel to the business and industrial parks and economic zones in India.

The group, with annual sales revenues exceeding 5.5 billion dollars entered the aviation business by setting up Star Aviation in India earlier this year, which focuses on corporate executives who need to fly in the Gulf.

Riga/Vilnius  - Latvia's main airport is giving unfair preference to the nation's flag carrier, hurting a rival Baltic airline, a court in neighbouring Lithuania ruled Tuesday.

At the request of FlyLAL-Lithuanian Airlines, the district court ordered that the assets of Riga International Airport and Latvia's airBaltic, the largest airline in the three Baltic nations, be frozen.

It was not clear how the decision would affect airBaltic, which immediately rejected the ruling as against European Union law.

Beijing - Aircraft builder Airbus opened an assembly plant in China on Sunday, its first production facility outside of Europe.

Airbus said it viewed the modern facility in the port city of Tianjin one hour to the south-east of the capital Beijing as a "milestone" in the globalization of the company's production.

Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao and Airbus head Thomas Enders were both present at the opening ceremony on Sunday.

The investment in the plant was between 8 billion and 12 billion yuan (1.2 billion to 1.8 billion dollars), state-run news agency Xinhua reported.

Four A320 Airbus craft are expected to be assembled at the Tianjin plant each month by 2011 at the latest.

The promotional fares on various routes are expected to be withdrawn by the domestic carriers as a step to cash in on the festive season which is just around the corner.

From 1st October, Kingfisher airlines, owned by Vijay Mallya will bring back the off-peak season fare to its original level.

Other than this, the coming festive season will also see an increase in the fare by up to 10% by the country’s largest airline by market share, Jet Airways.
