Budget session of Meghalaya Assembly begins today
Shillong, Mar 24: The newly formed Meghalaya Assembly's first Budget Session will begin from today.
The session will commence with Governor S S Sidhu's address, which will be followed by presentation of the supplementary demands and appropriate accounts.
The session will continue till March 27 when the Vote on Account will be passed by the Assembly.
The House is scheduled to meet again from April 15 to May 8 to take up other business including questions and replies by the members
Meghalaya United Democratic Party (MUDP) President Donkupar Roy was sworn-in as the Chief Minister of Meghalaya on March 19, hours after the Congress-led D D Lapang Ministry resigned ahead of a trust vote in the State Assembly.
Roy had inducted five more ministers into the cabinet-giving berth to all coalition partners of newly formed Meghalaya Progressive Alliance (MPA).
The five ministers are Hopingstone Lyngdoh (Meghalaya People's Democratic Party), E C Bamon and Timothy D Shira (both of Nationalist Congress Party) J A Lyngdoh (United Democratic Party), and Nimerson Momin (UDP). (ANI)
