Blue Origin Successfully Tests Uncrewed Rocket

So far we have known that Elon Musk and his company SpaceX are working hard to bring transformation in the private spaceflight industry. But now, Musk is not alone in the race as recently Blue Origin, a company established by Amazon.com founder Jeff Bezos, launched an uncrewed rocket and made a successful soft landing at a pad in West Texas.

Bezos said in a statement that the uncrewed test marks as a major step towards the full rocket reusability, which could pave way for human exploration at a very low cost of spaceflight.

During a press briefing on Tuesday he said, “To be able to do a vertical landing with a fully reusable booster stage is a really big deal. It is the Holy Grail — to get full reuse”.

SpaceX owner Elon Musk also expressed his happiness and congratulated Bezos and Blue Origin via Twitter on Tuesday. But he didn’t miss the opportunity to pin point the flaws in Blue Origin’s spaceflight, as he said that Monday’s test did not make any history.

Musk referring to the US Air Force/NASA X-15 experimental rocket plane and SpaceShipOne tweeted that the actual credit for the first reusable suborbital rocket goes to X-15.

SpaceX is also busy developing reusable, vertically landing rockets. Its Grasshopper prototype was even successful in landing multiple times during flight tests over the last few years.

Musk in another tweet on Tuesday even stressed on the point that how much it is difficult to get to orbital rather than suborbital space.

Bezos in response to some of Musk's statements said that what Blue Origin has just achieved isn't all that different from what SpaceX is trying to do on its orbital flights.
