A scientist said a black mark spotted in Antarctica which has been interpreted as a UFO has triggered speculations in the scientific community that aliens might have landed on earth.

Russian researcher Valetin Degterev said that he spotted the black mark amongst the endless ice desert while using Google Earth.

He said that it looked like a UFO that was in its most classic shape stuck in the ice after crash landing three years ago, reported the Mirror.

Degterev insisted that the unknown object, which measured about 65ft by 230ft could not be explained by anything natural to the earth.

According to metro.co.uk, Valetin Degterev, “I think there is large disc-shaped flying machine amongst frozen ice. It is definitely not polar station, nor plane (as there aren’t any airplanes or helicopters this big in the world). It seems this is man-made object from distant cosmos”.

Valentin Degteriov, from Nizhny Tagil in central Russia, calls himself a ‘researcher of the unknown’.

The ET-hunter claims that he spotted a huge unidentified disc lying half buried in the ice-land wastes of Antarctica.

As per Russian media, the scientist believes that the object crashed into the earth around 250million years ago just after the fall of a massive asteroid.

Degteriov even posted the images and Google Earth coordinates on social media and they immediately went viral.

The alien enthusiast gave the coordinates as 80°34'08.4"S 30°05’19.3"W, and estimates that the UFO is a massive 240 feet wide and 40 feet tall.

Degteriov said he do not presume to know exactly what it is. It is definitely not a polar station, neither a plane.

Social media users on Russian website VKontakte.ru were the quickest to respond to the unusual discovery.

Savely Kruglov wrote that the Antarctic is pretty isolated and would be a good place to land without being noticed.
