Big releases delayed by Paramount again

Paramount has delayed the release of yet another time. The first movie to be delayed for release was Harry Potter, thereafter it was The Road; this time it is The Soloist and Defiance.

No specified reasons have been given for the delay announced at the last moment. The release of Soloist has been delayed by about four months - from 21 November to 13 March. The release of soloist has been deferred to 31 Dec from 12 Dec.

Nikki Finke at Deadline Hollywood gave reasons Paramount’s decision to shift two major films. Most probable reason is that Paramount recently lost DreamWorks and thereafter announced that they'll only release 20 major films every year, This is the reason why they have taken a decision to relocate the release timing of the two movies so that they "don't have a giant hole next year."

Another reason that is being cited for the decision  is that Paramount wants to focus its Oscar efforts on The Curious Case of Benjamin Button and Revolutionary Road instead, "but it has nothing to do with that. It has to do with the metrics of managing its numbers."
