BHEL’s new unit in UP inaugurated

BHEL’s new unit in UP inaugurated Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), India’s largest engineering and manufacturing enterprise, has announced that it has introduced its new centralised stamping unit (CSU) at Jagdishpur, in Uttar Pradesh (UP).

The sources informed that the company has inaugurated the unit with the aim to meet India’s increasing electricity demands and to fulfill the Centre’s ambitious capacity expansion plans in the power sector.

The sources further informed that Rs 3.67 billion has been invested by the company for this unit.

In a separate release, the company has informed that CSU will not only play a major role in meeting the energy demand of the country but it will also meet the increased demand of stampings, a critical part of electrical machines, due to the growth in business and market demand for generators and electrical motors.

Presently, the stampings are being manufactured at Bhopal, Haridwar and Hyderabad units of the company

BHEL officials stated in a communiqué that this new unit is a milestone for meeting the challenges of the power sector and it will now feed company`s three mother plants located at Bhopal, Haridwar and Hyderabad that are already making boilers, turbines and generators for the many upcoming power plants in India.

BHEL management is aiming to make it Rs 450 billion company by the end of fiscal 2012.
