Beekeeping is quite an Old Practice in Paris
It might sound you an odd pairing, but it is true that bees and Paris have long history together. Bee keeping is being followed in Pairs and many famous places house bees on their roof tops, including Opera Garnier, Notre Dane De Paris, Grand Palais and the National Assembly in Paris.
There are many hotels that also house bees on their roof tops and their honey is being sold at quite a high price like around 15 euros for 150 grams. In fact, the Luxembourg Gardens has become quite famous in Paris for its honey.
A lot of honey is produced at such places like the Temple de L’Etoile produces 100 kg of honey per year. There are hives at the top of the Hotel de Ville and the roof of the National Assembly. As per experts, there are at least 400 hives on roof and in gardens in central Paris.
There are so many parks that have bee-boxes. At many shops, shop-owners provide free honey to local people. A number of things can be made from money and are even sold in the market including candies made with honey, honey spread, honey soap and pain d’epices, a delicious honey spice cake.
Many hotels that keep bees, present honey as gifts to their guests and even serve it in breakfast. Paris produces more honey than its neighboring nations. Beekeeping in Paris is not a new trend, in the Luxembourg Gardens the beekeeping is taking place since 1856.
