BCCI to reconsider decision of dropping Deodhar trophy

BCCI to reconsider decision of dropping Deodhar trophyThe Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has been reconsidering their decision to cancel the Deodhar Trophy, the zonal 50-50 tournament, for the 2009-10 domestic season which was taken just a day before.

BCCI chief administrative officer Ratnakar Shetty said that they have been trying to fit the Deodhar Trophy in the packed 2009-10 domestic season schedule.

He further added that they want to finish domestic tournaments at least before four or five days from the IPL which will start from 18th March and they have been also considering the option of conducting zonal Twenty20 tournament simultaneously with Champions League.

This response of BCCI has come after the warning of Shiv Sena against the cancellation of the Deodhar Trophy yesterday.

Shiv Sena leader Subhash Desai said that BCCI has been planning to conduct Indian Premier League (IPL-3) matches in Maharashtra with dropping Deodhar trophy tournament which has insulted Marathi’s pride as tournament has been named after Prof D B Deodhar.
