Barack Obama tweets on cosmos
President Barack Obama has written something interesting regarding cosmos on his Twitter account. One might have expected the President to talk about topics related to national security, the Affordable Care Act or climate change. However, the topic mentioned by him is totally different. He has mentioned regarding the cosmos.
The President wrote that his science advisor showed him Hubble shot of the most crowded place in Milky Way galaxy. It is a stunning Hubble Space Telescope observation of the Arches Cluster, located some 25,000 light-years away in the direction of the center of the galaxy.
President Obama has always supported the sciences, STEM and science outreach; however, this tweet concentrates on a totally different topic; it didn’t consider a particular policy or the White House Science Fair. This was a tweet that came as a surprise for people.
On Thursday, it was revealed that how come the President thought of mentioning the topic, when the President’s Chief Science Advisor John P. Holdren released a White House statement. The observation is related to an ‘ad-hoc’ note sent by him to White House staff; the observation resonated with the President.
Holdren wrote in the White House briefing that NASA’s morning report consists of a Hubble photo, which they thought should be shared. According to Holdren, “The astonishing density of stars really does make one wonder whether there’s anybody else out there. And this is just one piece of our own galaxy. There are an estimated 100 billion other galaxies in the observable universe”.
