Astronauts could reach orbit of Mars by 2033, land by 2039

According to a report released by the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (NASA), humans could get to the orbit of planet Mars and even the surface of the planet within few years. A workshop was sponsored by the largest space advocacy organization, The Planetary Society. The Mars mission was discussed in detail in the workshop called 'Humans Orbiting Mars'.

A team of experts has developed a scenario, with help of which astronauts will be able to reach the orbit of Mars in 2033. According to workshop chair Scott Hubbard from Stanford University's Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics and a member of the board of directors of the Planetary Society, "We believe we now have an example of a long-term, cost-constrained, executable humans to Mars program".

Hubbard also appreciated the workshop and said that it's an important step in creating a community of groups and individuals, which are interested in exploration of Mars.

Hubard said that now scientists have a program which makes it possible to send humans to Mars. By 2033, humans may reach Mars' orbit and landing on the surface of the planet could be achieved by 2039. The plan deals with many issues like the cost of the journey. Earlier, Hubbard was also a Mars program executive.

Reaching Mars is a much difficult than arriving at the moon. According to Bill Nye, CEO of Planetary Society, in space exploration, best ideas could be produced and so they were able to reach a common conclusion concerning the mission. He said that with this decision, the mission could be achieved with planned budget.
