American MegaBots Challenges Japan’s Kurata Robots to a Duel
In a bid to test the combat capabilities of its giant robot, the Boston-based company, Megabots Inc has challenged Japanese counterpart Suidobashi Heavy Industries for a contest wherein the MegaBot's Mark II will face off against Japanese Kurata robot.
The Megabots, founded last year by Gui Cavalcanti along with fellow engineer Matt Oehrlein challenged the Japanese counterpart in a You tube video, "Suidobashi, we have a giant robot. You have a giant robot. You know what needs to happen. We challenge you to a duel. Prepare yourselves and name the battlefield. In one year, we fight".
Suidobashi has readily accepted the dare asserting that giant robots are Japanese culture and so the company cannot let another country win this. The Kurata robot has been developed by Suidobashi artist, Kogoro Kurata in collaboration with roboticist, Wataru Yoshizaki.
The combat initiating video featured Oherlein wearing an American flag as a cape and flaunting his 12,000-pound Mark II robot with a paintball cannon capable of shooting 3-pound paintballs at 100 mph. Suidobashi too accepted the challenge via a video release which featured Kogoro Kurata supporting a Japanese flag cape, calling out the need for a 'Melee combat'.
The CEO and creator, Kogoro Kurata, forcefully remarked that just building something huge and sticking guns on it is super American but what the Japanese company wants is hand-to-hand and metal-on-metal action. Kogoro Kurata aggressively added that if they win in this duel, he wants to punch the US robot to scrap and knock it down to do it!
Let's see who triumphs in this East vs. West Robotic smack down!
