2024 Chevrolet Blazer EV PPV to produce 498 horsepower & deliver 250-mile range

The 2024 Chevrolet Blazer EV will be made available in a range of versions, including a police version that will arrive early next year, the American automobile brand announced. Deliveries of the mid-size electric SUV in the RS AWD trim are scheduled to start in late summer this year, but the police version will arrive in 2024. However, it is for sure that the upcoming SUV will bring something for everyone, thanks to its wide-ranging variants that include front-wheel-drive (FWD), rear-wheel-drive (RWD), and all-wheel-drive (AWD) powertrains.

For the law enforcement agencies, there will be the 2024 Chevrolet Blazer EV Police Pursuit Vehicle (PPV), which has been talked about in more details in a new video by the General Motors (GM), the parent company of Chevrolet brand.

As per released information, the 2024 Chevrolet Blazer EV PPV will be based on GM's EV-dedicated Ultium architecture and it will share a number of components with the Blazer EV SS. However, it will not be as powerful as the 557-hp SS. In a recently released video, the manufacturer revealed that the dual-motor electric powertrain of the Blazer EV PPV is capable of churning out up to 498 hp and 531 pound-feet of torque. These figures represent quite a strong performance, but lag behind the SS model’s 557-hp capability.

For power, the two electric motors (e-motors) of the Blazer EV PPV rely on a standard 105-kilowatt-hour (kWh) battery pack that promises an estimated range of 250 miles on a full charge. This estimated range may appear somewhat small to some, but it should be satisfactory as the vehicle will be equipped with the conventional emergency equipment.

The police variant has 50/50 front-to-rear weight distribution in addition to a low centre of gravity, which will make the vehicle sporty as well as responsive. A pursuit vehicle is often requited to respond quickly.

Based on a 400-volt heavy-duty electrical architecture, the upcoming PPV will also get standard police features like a heavy-duty suspension system, underbody skid plates, six-piston Brembo front brake calipers on 15.3-inch rotors, and 20-inch wheels clad in Firestone Firehawk Pursuit tires.

When it comes to charging, the 2024 Chevrolet Blazer EV PPV will come equipped with a Level-II 240-volt plug-in charger that allows the vehicle to add 23 miles of range in an hour. Obviously, it will also be capable of 400V DC fast charging at 190 kW, which will add up to 71 miles of range in just 10 minutes.
