2 Great White Sharks Identified
The Atlantic White Shark Conservancy has shared photos of two great white sharks. They were spotted off Massachusetts coast. In the photos, a research boat can be seen close to one of the two sharks.
During a white shark research trip on July 28, the sharks were identified by John Chisholm of the Massachusetts Division of Marine Fisheries. Atlantic White Shark Conservancy president Cynthia Wigren was of the view that on Tuesday, they have spotted multiple sharks and had enough footage of two to be identified by scientists.
The photos shared by the Atlantic White Shark Conservancy are the ones being taken by a photographer, who has taken aerial photos of the sharks. Wigren said there were some sharks that were very close to the shore.
The conservancy is working to complete a five-year white shark study that aims to find out how many white sharks are in the Cape Cod area. In the first year of the study, the researchers were able to find out and record 68 white sharks.
This season, 16 new sharks have been identified and tagged. In comparison to last year, activity this year is greater. It is said that the season continues till the end of October.
