After a late night meeting with Gilani, Zardari signed the summary to lift governor's rule, The Dawn reports.

A presidential spokesman told media that Zardari and Gilani "discussed political situation in the light of president's address to the joint session of Parliament on Saturday."

Zardari, in his address to the joint sitting of Parliament, had already announced to recommend lifting governor rule.

Now, Punjab Governor Salman Taseer is expected to convene an ascertainment session of the Provincial Assembly on Tuesday that will compel PNL-N, the largest party in Punjab, to nominate some other candidate instead of Shahbaz Sharif

Despite PML-N's constant opposition to the Governor's Rule, former Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif does not want the governor rule to be lifted.

Sharif is against convening of the provincial assembly session until the Supreme Court gives its verdict on the review petition filed by him and his brother Nawaz Sharif. (ANI)
