Washington, May 2 : Zac Efron has opened up about the night he fought a homeless man in a sleazy area of downtown Los Angeles and has admitted that it was "the most terrifying moment" of his life.

The 26-year-old star explained to the Hollywood Reporter that he and a friend were looking for a place downtown to eat late night when they ran out of gas and had to pull over.

He added that a homeless guy tapped on the driver's-side window and all of a sudden a fight started between his friend and the man, who was also carrying a knife like object which prompted him to get out of the car to disarm the guy and help his friend.

Efron revealed that the police appeared to stop the brawl just as he got hit in the face, he added.

The 'High School Musical' star was in rehab last year for substance abuse. (ANI)
