Yousuf harbours no grudge against Malik but backs his removal from captaincy

Pakistan batsman Mohammad YousufKarachi, Feb. 7 : Prolific Pakistan batsman Mohammad Yousuf has negated reports about a conflict with the former captain Shoaib Malik, The News reports.

Talking to reporters here, Yousuf, who had sided with the rebel Indian Cricket League (ICL) and subsequently banned by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to play for Pakistan's national cricket team, said that he had no personal grudge against Malik.

However, Yousuf supported the PCB's step of removing Malik from the captaincy, after Pakistan's humiliating defeat against Sri Lanka in the last one-day international match at Lahore.

He said Malik was not the right person for leading the national squad.

"Captaincy is the right of only that player who performs well," Yousuf said. (ANI)
