Yemen rebels say army launched attacks from Saudi territory
Sana'a, Yemen - Shiite rebels fighting the national army in north-western Yemen accused Saudi Arabia on Monday of allowing Yemeni forces to use its territories as a launchpad for attacking their positions on the border.
"Saudi authorities opened its territories for the Yemeni army to position at a base in Mountain al-Dokhan, from which it began its aggression against us," the rebels said in an e-mailed statement.
"We advise the Saudi regime to stay impartial and not to allow the Yemeni army to use its lands to attack us, otherwise we would be forced to fire back," the statement said.
Yemeni authorities did not comment on the rebels' claim.
The rebels, led by Shiite leader Abdul-Malik al-Houthi and known as Houthis, have frequently accused Saudi Arabia of facilitating the Yemeni army's operation against their bases on the border. (dpa)
