Yeddyurappa and Ratan Tata likely to meet within a week
TATA motors have started to relocate to a new place, its much hyped small car project after leaving Singur. Tata Group Chairman, Ratan Tata is expected to meet Karnataka chief minister B.S. Yeddyurappa within a week.
The Large and Medium Industries Minister of state, Murugesh Nirani said that the government is ready to acquire land for the small car manufacturing plant of TATA.
The state has identified a piece of land near Dharwad for the proposed plant. The state intends to acquire a total of 970.14 acres. The acquisition would be carried out through the Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board (KIADB).
The Managing Director of Tata Motors, Ravi kanth had already visited the site besides some places in Andhra Pradesh. He also held meeting with chief minister, Mr. Yeddyurappa. It is the second meeting between them after the pull out of TATA from Singur. The meeting was also attended by the head of the Nano project Girish Wagh, Principal Secretaries Umesh (Commerce and Industry), M.R. Srinivas Murthy (Finance), Executive Member of KIADB, Sham Bhat and Special Deputy Commissioner, Shivashankar.
The chief minister said that there is a good environment for the project in Dharwad. The company would be provided all assistance for land, water and power. Some industrial units of TATA are already working in Dharwad. So it would be easier for TATA to relocate its project at the proposed site.
