Yahoo! India to organise ‘Open Hack India’ in HyderabadInternet giant, Yahoo! India has said that it will soon organise its `Open Hack India' event in the southern city of Hyderabad during the month of July or August this year.

Yahoo!'s second largest global research and development (R&D) facility is located in Bangalore and the company generally holds the event in the city. The event had recorded a participation of 800 developers in the Open Hack competition in the previous year but the company expects only a modest participation this year in Hyderabad.

Yahoo! India R&D vice-president and head Hari Vasudev said, "We were looking at many other cities but we zeroed in on Hyderabad as it is one of the biggest technology hubs in the country that houses many IT development centres. We hope that the participating developers will come up with concepts that can later make way into our products."

In the competition, the developers can build applications and product ideas form the beginning that can be used to address real-world problems being faced by internet users around the world the developers are allowed to use the technology of their chose in the competition. Yahoo! India has said that it has received a total of 111 hack submissions so far for the Open Hack India competition.
