World Stock Market Round Up : By Nirmal Bang
Market Round Up- The markets started the day on a weak note on account of negative Asian cues but managed to recover around 11:30 hours. Short covering in the second half of trade also helped the Sensex to recover 405.75 points and the Nifty 128 points from the day's low of 14,835.08 and 4400.90, respectively. Former Index shut shop at 15,240.83, up 228.51 points or 1.52% and later one closed 1.69% or 75.35 points higher at 4528.80. The broader indices also ended in line with the benchmark indices, were up 1.5% each
Movers & Shakers- In the realty space, Indiabulls Real surged 9%. Orbit Corporation, Omaxe, HDIL, Parsvnath, DLF and Unitech were up 1.6?5%. Puravankara Projects was up 9.51%
Auto stocks like Hero Honda shot up 5% and M&M up 3.58%. Bajaj Auto, Maruti Suzuki, Bharat Forge, Ashok Leyland and Tata Motors were up 0.7?1.7%.
In the banking space, Axis Bank and ICICI Bank were up 4.3?3.6%. Kotak Mahindra, PNB, SBI and Bank of Baroda gained 1?2.5%. However, HDFC Bank was down 1.8%.
In the Oil & gas segment GAIL, BPCL, Reliance Industries, Cairn India and ONGC gained 1?3.5%. IOC and HPCL rose
0.5% each.
In the metal pack, Jindal Saw, Jindal Steel and Sterlite Industries went up 1.5?2.9%. JSW Steel, Hindalco, Tata Steel, NALCO and SAIL were up 0.3?0.7%.
In the cement space, ACC was up 2.5% and Grasim up 1.4% while Ambuja Cements fell 1.4%.
Top gainers on the Sensex were Hero Honda at Rs 1,478.50 up 4.69%, M&M at Rs 801 up 3.48%, Bharti Airtel at Rs
411.65 up 2.90%, ICICI Bank at Rs 737 up 2.44% and BHEL at Rs 2,300 up 2.17%.
