A study has projected a world map of mammals in a situation where no human has ever existed. Researchers said that if there would have been no humans then elephants and rhinos would have been all around across Europe and big mammals would have been thriving in North and South America.

"The study shows that large parts of the world would harbor rich large mammal faunas, as diverse as seen in protected areas of eastern and southern Africa today, if it was not for historic and prehistoric human-driven range losses and extinctions", said Professor Jens-Christian Svenning from Aarhus University in Denmark.

The study gives a hint about the role humans have played in the extinction of mega-fauna across the globe. Study's lead researcher Soren Faurby from the Department of Bioscience, at Aarhus University, said that in the current situation, most of safaris that take place today are in Africa.

But as per the map, safaris would have been present in many other places like in the neighboring areas and the region around northern Argentina-southern Brazil. In the research, study researchers have gone through the natural distribution of every species as per its ecology, biogeography and the natural environment.

The researchers said that if no human would have been present then most of northern Europe would have a home to wolves, moose and bears, elephants and rhinoceroses. Out of all, the US and its adjacent areas would have been rich in large mammal species.
