stock marketMarket Round Up- The markets corrected a bit after a strong rally witnessed in last three sessions. The Sensex had touched the 16,000 mark in first few seconds of trade but could not sustain at higher levels and ended the day down 93 points at 15,831. The Nifty shut at 4,680 down 31 points after touching the day's high/low of 4731 and 4642 respectively. Profit booking was seen in power, telecom, pharma and private sector banking while cement, auto and oil marketing shares witnessed buying interest. The market breadth was positive and the total traded turnover was at Rs 88,023 cr.

Movers & Shakers - The BSE auto index rose 0.5 %. Apollo Tyres surged 5.3 % and Tata Motors was up 2.7 %.

The BSE power index shed 1.3 %. Tata Power tumbled 4.4%. Reliance Infra, Lanco Infratech, Reliance Power, Power Grid Corp and GMR Infra fell 1-2.8%.

The BSE realty index dropped 1.2 %. Indiabulls Real, DLF, Orbit Corp and Omaxe declined 1.7-2%

The BSE IT index dropped 1 % and Patni Computer and Mphasis were the biggest losers in the group. The stocks fell over 3 % each. Wipro and Infosys slipped 1.55-1.8%.

In the telecom space, Bharti Airtel and Reliance Comm declined 2.55% each. Idea Cellular and Tata Communication were down 1.69% each.

There was a mixed trend in the oil & gas segment. BPCL surged 5.21% and HPCL up 3.55%. IOC, Reliance Industries and Reliance Petroleum gained 1.2-1.5%.

In the Sensex group Hindalco was the biggest gainer up 4.4 % to Rs 112. HUL rose 3.3 % while Tata Motors gained 2.7 %.

Tata Power, however, was the biggest loser in the pack down 4.4 % to end at Rs 1,298. ONGC, Reliance Infra and Bharti Airtel were the other losers down more than 2.5 % each.
