Workload increases for officials at Right to Information
The lives of the officials working at the directorate of education is becoming miserable after the number of applications pouring in under the Right to Information has increased tremendously to 10 applications per day for seeking various kinds of information.
The replies ought to be given in time to these applications, failing to which the concerned people are penalized. The officials have thus shifted their focus on these applications.
One of the senior officers was concerned about these applications affecting the day to day work, as the directorate is overflowing with these applications, and is keeping the officials busy in replying rather than focusing on other work. He further added that only a handful of them were genuinely interested in seeking information while others were mostly personal grudges against a particular official for failing to do his duty properly.
In one of the cases he said that one father had blamed the suicide of her daughter for securing less marks in an entrance of D. Ed course on the education department while in another case same man was filling same application at regular intervals, these were some of the baseless applications that waste a considerable amount of time of the department.
