William Shatner launches ‘Shatoetry’ iPhone app for crafting “Shatisms” Star Trek's original Captain Kirk, William Shatner, has recently launched a new iPhone app called `Shatoetry' - apparently an amalgamation of Shatner and poetry - which essentially gives the users a massive soundboard of words spoken by Shatner.

With Shatner - who has also played several other memorable roles like that of lawyer Denny Crane and Frank O'Hara on Psych - being quite famous for his unique dialogue delivery, adding needless pauses to enhance the dramatic tone of his performance, the Shatoetry iPhone app is basically a play on words.

The $3-priced app chiefly allows the users to drag words to the screen of their smartphones and arrange them into a sentence in such a way that pauses are added at the appropriate places. Users can tap on a word to lay more stress on it or to change the tone; and tap on the pauses to make them longer.

Once the arrangement of the words into a sentence has been completed by the users, they can hit the `Shat That' button of the app to play it back. If they are satisfied that they have crafted the perfect "Shatism," they can share it via email, or on YouTube, Facebook or Twitter.
