Wal-Mart to pay $27.6 million in California dumping case
World's largest company Wal-Mart Stores Inc. has said that it will pay $27.6 million for the California wastage dumping case. The prosecutors have informed the fact that the company has agreed to pay the amount. Wal-Mart Inc. was alleged of improper handling and dumping hazardous waste at its stores across California.
Wal-Mart is the largest retailer in all across the globe. It was accused of inappropriately disposing of pesticide, fertilizer, paint, aerosols and other chemicals to the surrounding. These wastage and chemicals are harmful to people's respiratory systems. Now it has been decided that the company has to pay for this to settle the issue.
San Diego County District Attorney Bonnie Dumanis has informed that this announcement has ended a five-year long investigation. There were around 20 prosecutors and 32 environmental agencies involved in the investigation procedure.
The authorities have found out the violations of law at 236 of Wal-Mart's stores and distribution centers across California. He has also said that the Sam's Club warehouse stores were also included in that case.
