Walmart didn’t furnish requisite documents: Mudgal panelThe one-man panel that was set up to look into retail giant's Walmart's lobbying activities has expressed its incapability to make an conclusion as the US retailer didn't furnish the requisite documents.

The government had assigned Justice Mukul Mudgal with the task to inquire into allegations that Walmart breached the US Foreign Corrupt Practices Act by greasing the palms of lawmakers in order to get easy access into the Indian retail market.

Justice Mudgal said in its report that it couldn't conclude allegations of bribery because the US retailer didn't provided it with the details of pays and perks that it extended to its external advisers.

The report said, "The details of lobbying expenses and their break-up have not been given either to the committee or to the US Congress on the premise of such information being closely held proprietary information."

The report underline that it was not possible to reach a conclusion in absence of probing or summoning powers.

The report has been submitted to the government, but Cabinet didn't take up the report in its Thursday meeting.
